'I have owned my Jensen SP for 2 years, having had a complete restoration carried out by Jensen specialists Cropredy Bridge Garage in 2003/4. The body work was fettled with around 50% of the panels replaced, including the bonnets and all wheel arches. The car was then finished in Estoril Blue a BMW colour featured in 'M' cars, using low bake paint shop technology.
I do high mileage for a classic, 6000pa and have been extremely careful with both the maintenance and cleanliness of the car. I entered the Jensen Owners Club Concours last year (2004), having just washed, dried and hoovered the car and came 9th in the Bronze class. This year, I engaged Paul to prepare the car and as you can see from the photos, it looks stunning, a 33 year old car, in almost showroom condition. The key measure of success, other than my own pleasure was to be the Jensen Owners Club judges at this years event. The drive to the event was not ideal, we were late and then caught in a 15 minute rainstorm on the M1, arriving at the concours with no time to give a final polish - even so, this year we won the class with 1st place in the Bronze Category for Interceptors / FFs, even having had points deducted for arriving late.
On the way upto the event, a Citroen Maserati stopped next to us at the lights and was amazed by the condition of the car, panel and paint. This was a theme which continued throughout the day at the show with many comments on the sheen and wet look of the paint and overall presentation of the car, you only realise how much chrome there is when you get polishing.
Having now won Bronze, I have to enter the Silver category next year, so Paul, keep a day or two free in late May next year, I need your help again.
